Hope to schedule Lap Band surgery soon
Welcome to the board, you have found a great place for information and friends. So just jump right in and ask away. As far as wisdom, research, research,research.......go to seminars get in touch with a support group. We have a couple of groups on here. There is the Lunch Bunch that meets the second Saturday of each month @ 1:00. There is the Dinner Club that meets the last Saturday of each month @ 6:00. Both of these meets at different restaurants in different areas of town. You can jus****ch the board for all the details on both. I'm not sure what part of Nashville you are in, but there is another support group that is starting up in the Mt.Juliet/Antioch/Lavergne area, it is the last Thursday of the month at Hopson Pike Baptist church. I hope this helps, feel free to PM me for more information.

Welcome to the board.....Cheryl is right--this is an incredible forum for information re: your WLSurgery & everyone is so very helpful. I am having RNY (gastric bypass) and just won my appeal from my insurance company--my surgery date is March 17th (St. Paddy's Day).....so, if you have any questions about jumping through insurance company hoops, let me know! Good luck & take care, Micheala.
Welcome, and words of wisdom... hmmmm like the others have said, ask away I know when I was new and starting out I had TONS.
I got my Realize band (same thing as lapband only wider) on 12/9/09, I've done fairly well, I haven't had a fill yet, for various reasons, but I go on 3/10 for my first fill. If you are going to Vandy, with Melvin, you probably will hear about the Realize Band.
Please jump in with questions, and like I said when I was starting I had tons, and there is no such thing as a bad question!!

Definitely try to go to the Band Support Group meetings at Vanderbilt, if you're having your surgery with Melvin. There is one this Thursday (they meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month). I've been to the last 3 of 4 meetings, but will be out of town this Thursday. Otherwise, I'd be there.
Just follow the rules--you'll get a huge packet of guidelines at your first group dietician's meeting (you do 3 dietician meetings, one as a group, two one on ones pre-op). Do lots of reading of the boards and ask all the questions you can come up with.
Good luck on your journey!
